About Troop 7

Building character and leadership through outdoor adventure since 1914

Our Story

Boy Scout Troop 7 was chartered in 1914 and has been serving the Port Washington, NY community for over 110 years. We are proud to be one of the most active troops in our council, with a strong tradition of outdoor adventure, leadership development, and community service.

Our troop meets every Wednesday evening from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Port Washington. We organize monthly camping trips, attend summer camp at Onteora Scout Reservation, and engage in high-adventure activities throughout the year. Our scouts have hiked the Appalachian Trail, canoed in the Boundary Waters, and climbed mountains in multiple states.

We believe in the Scout Oath and Law, and we strive to live by these principles in everything we do. Our program is youth-led, with adult guidance, allowing scouts to develop leadership skills and take ownership of their scouting experience.

Why Choose Troop 7?

  • ✦Open to all boys ages 11–17 — any age within this range can join at any time of year, no prior scouting experience required.
  • ✦Nassau County's longest continually chartered troop — over 110 years of proven programming and community trust.
  • ✦100+ Eagle Scouts — a legacy of achievement that speaks for itself.
  • ✦Youth-led program — scouts plan and lead, developing real leadership and confidence.
  • ✦Active and welcoming community — a brotherhood of scouts and a family of supportive parents.
